Living your life without any barriers and reservations - for many people that would sound like a beautiful dream - and yet for us at Siloah that dream has, to some extent, come true.
Siloah is a meeting place for people with and without physical disabilities, offering a great variety of leisure activities as well as educational and knowledge-enhancement events, and also simply an opportunity for enjoying social encounterings, for getting in touch with other people, for sharing and interchanging, for having a good laugh together, and for learning from each other.
The name of our "meeting shop" is derived from the ancient pool of (Hebrew) "Shiloach" in the vicinity of Jerusalem where, according to the Gospel, Jesus had given back to a blind man the ability to see. In the same sense of "opening the eyes" the people at Siloah endeavour to bring about a world without any kind of prejudice, a world sustained by genuine tolerance, humanity, mutual understanding, by a giving and taking irrespective of whether the other person happens to be disabled or not.
A world where everybody gets a fair chance to play his or her individual part and share his/her very special skills and qualities with the community of human beings who, on their part, are giving back to their fellows the natural and self-confident matter-of-course attitude which they are otherwise often searching in vain.
